Voting in the General Elections in Sweden
The General Elections to the Swedish Riksdag (parliament), Municipal Assemblies and Regional Council Assemblies are held in Sweden on September 13, 2026. The Embassy of Sweden and Consulates organize voting in person at different voting locations throughout the U.S. You can also vote by postal mail.

Everyone who has the right to vote in Swedish elections can vote from abroad. Please keep in mind that you cannot vote on Election Day while abroad.
You are eligible to vote in the general elections in Sweden if you:
- are a Swedish citizen
- are at least 18 years old on or before election day, September 13
- have been registered as a resident in Sweden

No, you can vote without a voting card, both by mail and in person.
I'm not sure I'm in the Electoral Register (röstlängden), can I still vote?
Yes you can - as long as you meet the eligibility requirements. Your vote counts as a re-registration for another 10 years.
